The Northwest Tarrant Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1984. You can only imagine how technology has progressed over the last three decades to improve communication, promotion, and member engagement tools.
We inherited a CRM system from another chamber-specific company that was supposed to have incorporated invoicing and a website, according to the previous director who convinced the board of directors it would be a good investment. The initial outlay had been $1500, and the monthly maintenance fees were $228. There was no contract per se, but the company requested a 90 day advance notice of intent to terminate. Because the previous chamber leadership had left and we had no access to the passwords required to update the site, I could update the calendar and add new members, but otherwise, the website was useless to me. There had been no text or photos updated since late in 2013.

When we received a call from Carolyn Goldring of The Chamber Team, we were intrigued. We arranged for her to teleconference with our board of directors, who were understandably skeptical after the last debacle. For the features we wanted, we chose the Pro Edition, which had a set-up coat of $1995, but monthly maintenance of only $99. That made financial sense to the board, and we made the switch.

This did NOT happen overnight! It was a mess getting our database from the other company, but the implementation crew at The Chamber Team were patient and kind to the non-technical person providing it all (myself), and they answered each question promptly and thoroughly. Step by step, we designed the site to our specifications, and when I saw the demo site, I was beside myself at how clean and fresh it looked! They incorporated every color and layout detail we'd requested, and when additional tweaks were requested, they handled them with grace and aplomb. Training was enjoyable and detailed, so incredibly detailed that I can change a photo or develop a newsletter simply by referring to my notes. They call it a WYSIWYG editor, "what you see is what you get", and it couldn't be easier to manage!

When asked about providing a testimonial, I enthusiastically responded "YES!!!" I would write letters, speak to prospective clients, let them use our site as an example, sing songs of praise, whatever they wanted. I can't overstate the importance of what The Chamber Team did for us: THEY GAVE US OUR WEBSITE BACK, AND SAVED US MONEY WHILE DOING SO!

My greatest reward for all this was the chance to work with people who have respect for business and its urgent and ever-changing priorities, but also understand how to work with different personalities. Although I'll probably never meet my implementation team (Donna Sinclair, Leanne Knight, Jeannette Turvey, Aaron Fecht) face to face, I feel like I have new found friends on the Chamber Team. They made me look like a hero to our board of directors and to our membership as a whole, and made it as easy simple as it could possibly be.

"When designing our website, Jeanette was always helpful and immediately responsive. She just “got it.” We answered a few questions about the look we wanted and she submitted a brilliant template. She then trained us providing us with the tools so we could update content to keep the site relevant. It was great experience. The process was fairly straight forward.
